How’s it going? If you didn’t read yesterday’s post, I encourage you to go back to it. I really believe there’s something important, an invitation from the Lord for us in this challenge.
Yesterday I kept rolling over the question in my mind “where is my treasure…” for example while I got a manicure. The lady who does my nails I usually talk with but I felt like she just needed some quiet time, so as I sat there I just kept asking the Lord, “where is my treasure?”
I think today I’m going to have to take my own advice and embody this question - through creativity (journaling) and maybe even a walk.
Also I’m going to sit with the definition of the word treasure. Since I’m looking them up, let me share them with you here.
: noun: treasure
a quantity of precious metals, gems, or other valuable objects.
"the ransom was to be paid in diamonds and treasure"
a very valuable object.
plural noun: treasures
"she set out to look at the art treasures"
INFORMAL
a person whom the speaker loves or who is valued for the assistance they can give.
"the housekeeper is a real treasure—I don't know what he would do without her"
: verb: treasure; 3rd person present: treasures; past tense: treasured; past participle: treasured; gerund or present participle: treasuring
keep carefully (a valuable or valued item).
"my mother gave me the ring and I'll treasure it always"
value highly.
"the island is treasured by walkers and conservationists"
: synonyms: stored wealth, gem, riches, deposit, jewel, pride and joy, pearl of great price, apple of one’s eye, value, cherish, regard, count precious, prize, esteem, hold dear
And then, in the Greek (Strong’s number G2344 if you care about such things) the word
thēsauros: Treasure (Noun and Verb):
denotes
(1) "a place of safe keeping" (possibly akin to tithemi, "to put"),
(a) "a casket," Mat 2:11;
(b) "a storehouse," Mat 13:52; used metaphorically of the heart, Mat 12:35, twice (RV, "out of his treasure"); Luk 6:45;
(2) "a treasure," Mat 6:19-21; 13:44; Luk 12:33, 34; Hbr 11:26; "treasure" (in heaven or the heavens), Mat 19:21; Mar 10:21; Luk 18:22; in these expressions (which are virtually equivalent to that in Mat 6:1, "with your Father which is in Heaven") the promise does not simply refer to the present life, but looks likewise to the hereafter; in 2Cr 4:7 it is used of "the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ," descriptive of the Gospel, as deposited in the earthen vessels of the persons who proclaim it (cp. ver. 4); in Col 2:3, of the wisdom and knowledge hidden in Christ.
Well - if any of you are a little stuck like me, there’s plenty for us to dig into! And, “a casket!!” Wow…hmm 🤔…gonna ponder that!
Praying for you today! That the Lord would show us where our treasure truly is!
Grace be multiplied to us and through us!
Rebecca 💕
p.s. will you pray with me that I find my laptop or iPad charger? I’m doing this all from my phone and it’s getting old and hard on my eyes! 😆
I read yesterday and I’m so interested in my response: I prickled. Right away. Like I just instantly was like “Nah, Rebecca, skip. New question.” Haha. Why? I am not even sure yet. Am I afraid of the answers? Hmmm
So of course this means I’m absolutely doing this! Because there of course is nothing to fear with Him. I can safely approach Him because I know His kindness to be true and I know He delights in the questions.
I’m so glad the Lord knows my heart. I feel such gratitude right now that He searches and knows it even before the untangling is apparent to me. But I’m also really looking forward to exploring this more and it being more clear. It was a busy day with very little deep time on it. But I shared it with my oldest on a long drive and am going to try to journal tonight!
