And She Wrote 🌄
Aim. And I’m not talking about the AOL instant messenger my millennial counterparts used everyday in the year 2000. Aim is defined as “to point or direct (a weapon or camera) at a target,” another definition says “a purpose or intention; a desired outcome. The intention of achieving.”
I’ve been thinking, maybe we get it all wrong as Christians, setting goals. Maybe it’s not about the outcome, but the intention and purpose of our heart. There’s no failure in God. Period. If we are IN Him and we AIM at Him, He isn’t going to let us down friends!
I love the definition that says “to point or direct a weapon or camera at a target.” Our focus is our weapon. Our eyes are our camera. Our praise is our weapon. Our attention will capture what it’s set on. We can point it at our problems. The things of this world. The idols we secretly let consume us, consume our thoughts and our time. OR. We can AIM our focus and praise at God. And we are guaranteed to hit the only mark that will ever matter. Like my buddy Clive said (y’all might know him as C.S. Lewis - I like to pretend to be friends with my spiritual hero’s) but Clive said this “AIM at heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you get neither.“
Aim at heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you get neither.
Aiming at the earth is like aiming at an eternity spent at that gas station I aimed my camera at last night…empty, dead, unappealing, terrifying even. There’s an entire OTHER we can’t even comprehend and we have to LIVE for it here! Let’s imagine heaven together today friends - and thank God he’ll throw the earth in for us while we’re at it!
You definitely need to write a book. Your writing is anointed, Friend <3
